Comment: I know that it is impossible for a child to read a book they can't comprehend, no matter how interested in the material they are, I tried once. What I am having trouble understanding is exactly what make the students competent at a certain level. Obviously going over vocabulary can help the student comprehend more. My brother was reading out loud to me, and he kept making mistakes. However, he really was comprehending the book, he just kept switching words around, messing up the punctuation a little, and pronouncing words wrong.
Question: How can I help a child who comprehends, but is having trouble with the mechanics of reading?
