"Imagine a classroom that...engages meaning-makers..."
This was in a paragraph along with a whole slew of classroom characteristics, but this is one that really caught my eye. It reminded me of when Sarah commented in class to answer Dr. Wimmer's question of "What does it mean to be authentic regarding assessment?" and Sarah said that it is applicable to real-life scenarios (sorry if this is totally off the mark, Sarah, this is how I took it though ha). I think this relates because all of the information we are giving our students needs to be given in a way that they can see how it will be used in real life. Teaching students to spell words with oral tests would not be the most effective, because it won't be often in life that they need to spell words without writing them down. We need to remember to always help students make the connections to real world and to assess them in ways that the real-world would assess their knowledge so they know how to implement it in their lives.
What are some ways to show practical application through our assessments? Sorry, if thats tricky.
