Comment: I completely agree with this quote and believe it is so important for parents to be a crucial part of helping children with written language before school starts. Many studies have shown that when parents are an integral part of their child's education they perform better in school. Those students are more motivated to work hard and they feel more confident in school. Children are more motivated and more excited to learn!
Question: What can teachers do to encourage parents to help their children succeed in school? How can teachers help parents understand the importance of being an integral part of their child's education?

ReplyDeleteI also think that parents play a huge role in the success of their children. Parents are the main and sometimes only adult example in a child's life until her or she enters school. With this in mind, it is obvious that the things that are important to parents usually become important to their children. Many times, parents have a desire to help their children succeed in school, but are unaware of how to do it. There is a chance that they feel uncomfortable going to the teacher and asking what they can do to help.
ReplyDeleteBecause of this, I think that a good idea for teachers is to send home weekly or monthly newsletters to let the parents know what their students will be learning, and how they as parents can help their students. Also, teachers can encourage the parents to be an active part of the learning process, and give parents examples of ways they can help their children. If teachers do this, then the parents will have some ideas of how they can help their children to succeed in school.
