Comment: This is such a remarkable time that we are living in, and we are introduced to so many technological advances. This quote shows how important it is that we are teaching our students not only how to read, but different things they need to know how to read to succeed in this world. The reading strategies we teach them must be applicable to all the different things they will come in contact with. As our world becomes more interconnected and technology becomes a great part of everyday life, this will become a greater importance. We have a great responsibility to teach and to motivate our students.
Question: What can we do to give our students the opportunity to learn and apply Web-based learning?
This is a great question! I think the best thing we as future teachers can do NOW is to really remember and learn how technology and web based learning can be used in our classroom through our IPT classes and so on. Blogs, wikis, facebook, etc are all major internet workings in which our students will know about and we can implement them into our classroom! We could have the students help write the updates of the classroom happenings on the blog or help create videos and put them on a wiki page. There are endless possibilities! We as teachers just need to be aware of them.
